Woman’s dating rules for her boyfriend divide the internet

A 23-year-old woman has revealed her list of rules for her boyfriend while they’re dating, and some have described them as a “red flag”.

Taylor Donoghue, from New York, took to social media to reveal her five rules for her boyfriend, including the fact that he cannot have a female best friend.

“I don’t believe in them, I think those get messy. You can have female friends and acquaintances but a female best friend? Absolutely not,” she said on TikTok.

“The second thing is I will never not allow my boyfriend to let me know where he’s at location-wise.”

She said she felt like you get to a point in a relationship where you’ve been together for so long it becomes more of a safety issue than anything else.

She said she doesn’t check it constantly and felt it was shady if you were dating someone and they didn’t want to share where they were.

“That’s a huge red flag,” she said.

She said she also would never allow her boyfriend to go to strip clubs, adding she felt like this particular condition was controversial as some couples go to them together.

Taylor said bars and guys’ nights were fine.

“The fourth thing I will never allow my boyfriend to do is pay all the bills. I feel like the men paying for 100 per cent of everything is wrong,” she said.

“I’m not even trying to sound pick-me — obviously I think early on the guy should take on a majority of the bills — but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t pay for a dime.

“Also my mindset is like even though we’re not married, I’m not trying to run him dry and he’s not trying to run me dry.”

The final thing on Taylor’s list of things she’d never allow her boyfriend to do was like girl’s bikini photos online.

“I feel like that is a huge red flag for obvious reasons and I feel like there has been so much more awareness on this. It’s always makes me sad when I see someone married with kids or in a relationship and they’re liking girl’s photos. Especially provocative ones,” she said.

“I just don’t think it’s a good look.”

Some social media users slammed Taylor’s video while others defended her.

“Speaking of red flags, this video is one,” one social media user commented on her video, while another asked if the rules also applied to her.

“But absolutely no strip clubs,” one agreed with Taylor.

One said: “Throwing the word ‘allow’ quite a bit there.”

“If he is truly committed to you, not a single one of those is over the line asks,” one social media user agreed.’

Another added: “These are so … actually reasonable.”
