Metaphor: ReFantazio There's a lot of free time available while you're on the Gauntlet Runner, and it's mostly limited to when it's running. As you progress through the story, new events will open up, giving you other time to prepare your party for the more challenging battles ahead.
A new way to use your free time that opens up after a few hours of play is the garden. When interacting with it for the first time You will receive one set of seeds to test the mechanics. But then you'll need to get new seeds in cities around the world. Here's how to garden and where to buy each type of seed.

To garden, you'll need a pack of seeds and a day to spare while the Gauntlet Runner is active. Interacting with the plant pots in the back room of the Gauntlet Runner allows you to choose the seeds you want to plant and take the time to plant them. They won't be ready to harvest until the next day.Harvesting doesn't take long and can be done when the Gauntlet Runner isn't moving. You'll usually get two or three plants from whatever you plant. And unlike cooking, there's no way to make this process not take up too much of your free time.
Plants can be left and harvested at any time. So there's no downside if you accidentally forget it.

As you play the game and unlock these new cities. There is no reason to plant worse seeds. Because time and effort are exactly the same. So you should always aim for better rewards. Overall, gardening is a useful item. But there are other ways to quickly level up your Archetype while in dungeons. So you can save your Gauntlet Runner free time for other things.
