Veilguard's Art Book A Guide to Cutting World States

Important points

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard canceled the mission in which we would have saved anyone remaining in the Fade during the investigation.

  • This seems to suggest that BioWare was considering bringing back world status early in development.

  • If the mission is completed That means Hawke also appears in the game. This means that The Veilguard will almost certainly feature three of its four protagonists from across the series.

A new Dragon Age: The Veilguard art book seems to confirm that BioWare is considering bringing back the world state during Early Access.

It mentions a remnant mission where you have to rescue whoever you left behind in the Fade during your investigation. To do that, BioWare will have to choose one of the canon or allow us to import our choices from the previous game, World State.

Look how they killed my Magister.

For context, there's a mission in Inquisition called Here Lies the Abyss in which the party, along with Hawke who's returned, are stuck in the Fade. To escape, someone must stay behind to take down a spider-like demon known as “The Abyss.” Nightmare has four options: Hawke, Alistair, Loghain, or Stroud. Choosing who to abandon in the Fade is a pivotal and heartbreaking moment, but The Veilguard almost lets us get it right all these years later.

Hawke may appear in Veilguard.

together with Alistair

If BioWare chooses to keep this mission in The Veilguard, all four characters may return depending on how you play Inquisition.

This meant that The Veilguard almost had three of the four playable characters from across the series, however, due to this mission being cancelled. Throwing the fate of whoever was stuck in the Fade up in the air, Hawke didn't appear.

The art book also reveals that Cole will return as part of the mission.

Hawk's appearance and the implications of World State are two big reveals. But for whatever reason These ideas appear to have been cut short early in development. Regardless, it's an interesting glimpse into what might be.
