It mentions a remnant mission where you have to rescue whoever you left behind in the Fade during your investigation. To do that, BioWare will have to choose one of the canon or allow us to import our choices from the previous game, World State.

For context, there's a mission in Inquisition called Here Lies the Abyss in which the party, along with Hawke who's returned, are stuck in the Fade. To escape, someone must stay behind to take down a spider-like demon known as “The Abyss.” Nightmare has four options: Hawke, Alistair, Loghain, or Stroud. Choosing who to abandon in the Fade is a pivotal and heartbreaking moment, but The Veilguard almost lets us get it right all these years later.

If BioWare chooses to keep this mission in The Veilguard, all four characters may return depending on how you play Inquisition.
This meant that The Veilguard almost had three of the four playable characters from across the series, however, due to this mission being cancelled. Throwing the fate of whoever was stuck in the Fade up in the air, Hawke didn't appear.
The art book also reveals that Cole will return as part of the mission.
Hawk's appearance and the implications of World State are two big reveals. But for whatever reason These ideas appear to have been cut short early in development. Regardless, it's an interesting glimpse into what might be.
