It seems like every month players are treated to a unique RPG adventure. Whether it is a giant franchise like dragon age or the newest IP e.g. Black Legend: WukongPlayers will be able to enjoy a variety of experiences. This month, one such adventure comes in the form of a hand-drawn RPG. VED– The first game from Lithuanian developer Karaclan. VED It promises to present a story filled with magic for players to experience. And while the game's art style may be visually pleasing, But almost everything about this experience was uneventful.
VED It puts players in the role of a young hero named Cyrus who discovers that he has powerful magical abilities. As a result, he quickly becomes embroiled in a violent story that leads him to master his abilities. Fight all kinds of powerful enemies. and hope to save the world All of this leads to a game that has some exciting combat encounters and a few unique mechanics, but the actual story and writing feel mostly lackluster. Which ultimately makes it a memorable experience.

An upcoming role-playing game that people are excited about
While there have been many RPG announcements for 2024 and beyond, these games are especially exciting.
The world of VED is beautifully unique.
That being said VED It's not all bad. The story may not seem bright. But the beauty and combat of the game is quite exciting. The entire experience is presented through a beautiful hand-drawn art style. Everything looks like a painting. The characters move and are displayed like works of art in a museum. It makes for a truly awesome spectacle that players can get lost staring at for hours.
If players get bored staring at one world, there are actually two completely different worlds with their own unique visuals. One such city is the grimy, dirty city of Micropolis. which is full of gangs warring group and evil-looking characters Another appears every time Cyrus teleports. and is full of magical creatures and magical floating islands. Both do a great job of engaging players too. VEDCombat makes things even better.
VED battles can be challenging fun.
Combat is prominent here, which is good, as the player will have to contend with many things during the adventure. When they arrived at the mysterious floating island world They must equip themselves with powerful abilities. This is unlocked by upgrading the cute Troglodyte villages once they are satisfied with the items. They must go and discover the many secrets of this land. In order to do this They will move between the islands. Each island has a new threat or situation to participate in.
Some islands have friendly NPCs to meet. while other islands There are random events that require players to roll a D20 depending on what they do. They often gain buffs or debuffs while running through magical lands. Then, if they are brave enough They can take out any one of the enemies scattered across these islands. If they can't defeat the threat. They will return to the village and have to do it all over again. But luckily the island they had cleared was still clear.
At the start of each combat encounter Players can choose one of three buffs or debuffs to use on their enemies. They are rewarded with more energy which acts depending on the buff. VEDcurrency if they think it's too challenging You can skip these things. Because it's completely optional. They will lose bonus energy. But they will still receive the standard amount of prizes if they win.
Battles are turn-based. But there is a slight twist. The player must choose an attack. Choose where you want to attack the creature. and hope the creatures don't wipe them out first. However, instead there's always just a set of attacks you can choose from. The player's available movement is determined by where Cyrus is standing. The hot bar is divided into four sections. Each part represents a different point on the battlefield. Some attacks cause the player to move. Something keeps them in place. And it is up to them to plan about this.
VED stories and writings remain in great demand.
In a story-driven RPG The real story must be exciting. Players don't want to sit through dull or uninteresting stories. They want the conversation to feel natural. And they want the narrative to make sense. VEDIt feels like Karaclan is struggling to deliver in almost every way, so instead it thrills players with an amazing adventure. It turned out to be unsuccessful.
The story follows a young boy named Cyrus who has the power to teleport. When he teleports He is transported to a magical floating island world. Outside of this world, he must explore Micropolis and fight against various factions. who want to make their mark on the world. For this reason, every player's decision is important. At the end of each chapter it tells them the choices they made and the decisions they skipped.
That would have made for an interesting story, but nothing felt natural. The conversation seemed to flow strangely. Without sounding like anyone would say at all. The characters speak in continuous sentences. End the conversation suddenly There is too much explaining. And the script looked like it needed serious editing. Karaclan said the entire story was translated into English. And even that might result in some awkward conversations. But the fact that it's all a story detracts from the overall experience.
In addition to that VEDThe voice acting is a bit rough. Conversation probably won't help. But at times it felt like I was reading a script rather than words. That can stop the immersion of the game. And often listening can be a little overwhelming. Of course, not every game needs award-winning voice acting. But it would be nice if these characters were a bit stronger.
VED It's far from a perfect game, though. But it does have some redeeming qualities. The hand-drawn art style looks really cool. It shows just how strong the game is. Plus, the battles are often exciting. Because if the player isn't careful, things can fall apart quickly. However, the story and dialogue make the experience very relatable. And that ultimately leads to a tiring overall experience.
