The film was produced by anime company EOTA and opened in Japanese theaters in July 2024 after accusations of an extramarital affair. Actor Takahiro Sakurai did not return to voice the main character “Drug Seller”. Hiroshi Kamiya (Trafalgar Law in. one piece) took his place.

What exactly is Mononoke?
A spin-off story of a horror anthology.
Mononoke Actually, it is a separation of Ayakashi: The Horror Tale of the Samurai (2006) an anthology produced by Toei Animation consisting of three different stories: Yotsuya's ghost story (directed by Tetsuo Imazawa and based on a famous Japanese play), Goddess of the Dark Tower (directed by Kozo Nakayama, also based on a stage play), and Goblin Cat (Original story by Kenji Nakamura and Michiko Yokote, directed by Nakamura himself)
at Mononoke The anime aired in Japan in 2007, directed by Kenji Nakamura and produced by Toei (the film is the first non-Toei animated feature in the franchise, if we may call it that way). Yokote co-creator is one of the head writers along with Chiaki J. Konaka, Ikuko Takahashi and Manabu Ishikawa. She is not credited as a screenwriter.
The story is a collection of chapters with different adventures in each chapter. It follows the main character, known only as a “drug seller” (hence his name), and features supernatural creatures and phenomena that took place around the 19th century. Ghost in the Rain This film is the first of a trilogy: the second film (Mononoke Part Two: Hinezumi) It's set for March 14, 2025 in Japan, and the name and date of the third show are still to be announced.
