The Best Summons in FF7 Rebirth

Summons went to a whole new level with the latest main iteration of the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy 16. While their inclusion in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is less bombastic, they are still useful in battle. Once players Stagger an enemy, any of the three party members can build up their gauge to use their equipped Summon, which will become a temporary fourth party member.

How to Get Every Summon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (All FF7 Rebirth Summons)

There are 14 Summons available in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though players will need to put in quite a bit of work in order to unlock them all.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features six major Summons based on the various regions of the game, which also appeared in the original PS1 RPG. While there are others from the last game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, including classics like Shiva and Ramuh, these ten best ones in the game. They will give players the most bang for their buck between dealing damage and boosting stats in the equip menu. Naturally, there will be spoilers and these will be listed in order of appearance.

Updated on February 3rd, 2025 by Joshua Leeds: There are many summons in the game, with a few being obtained right at the start to give players a few simple ones to try out. While these summons are obtained early, they are still incredibly powerful and will hold their own throughout most of the early to mid-game. This list has been updated to include multiple new entries, many of which are some of those starting summons that are surprisingly powerful despite being given so quickly into the game.

Chocobo & Moogle

Heavy Wind Damage To Many Enemies

all-final-fantasy-7-rebirth-summons-chocobo-and-moogle

  • MP Bonus +2
  • Magic Attack Bonus +4
  • Magic Bonus +2
  • Luck Bonus +2
  • Location: Starting Materia.

The Chocobo & Moogle excel in dealing large amounts of Wind damage, and just about all their attacks hit multiple enemies at once. This summons may not be the best against some of the difficult bosses in the game, though it is a great option to have on one party member to summon when facing a lot of weaker enemies.

This is also the starting summon Materia for Cloud, and while it may not be the best it does excel early in the game especially when you don’t have any upgraded summons. While this summon may not take on Sephiroth, it’s always a fun backup option to have equipped on a party member. This is also one of the rare summons that can boost your luck even just a bit, which is useful in some builds.

9

Shiva

Devastate Enemies With Relentless Ice Magic

all-final-fantasy-7-rebirth-summons-shiva

  • MP Bonus +3
  • Magic Attack Bonus +4
  • Magic Bonus +2
  • Location: Starting Materia.

While a lot of summons jump right into the fray and fight even the strongest enemies, Shiva will usually keep her distance, and pepper enemies with shards of ice. While this won’t help take the pressure off your party, the damage from this summon will usually exceed any you could do yourself.

Shiva is an early option to hit ice weaknesses, and her ultimate ability is able to wipe out an entire battlefield. You do run the risk of the enemy being immune, but even some strong enemies such as the Great Malboro are weak to ice, leading to match-ups where this summon shines. Shiva also is one of the summons you start the game with, boosting her usefulness thanks to the ease of not having to work for it.

8

Titan

A Strong Punch Can Go A Long Way

Titan in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • HP Bonus +92
  • MP Bonus +2
  • Defense Bonus +5
  • Vitality Bonus +5
  • Location: The Grasslands

Titan is the first new Summon that players can find within The Grasslands region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Summons can be found in ancient caverns and after following a pattern recognition mini-game. Chadley will emulate the data into his computer then, after fighting a Summon like Titan in VR, players can obtain their power. Titan holds the elemental power of Earth, as he does in the original game, and his powers are quite formidable between boosting defenses thanks to his massive body.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Items You Should Not Buy From Shops

The open world of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is full of vendors and shops with items to help you on your quest but these items not worth your gil.

Unlike the original game, though, players will get him much earlier, as he was found within the Gongaga Reactor before. In the Gongaga region, players can instead find Kujata in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, who was originally in the Sleeping Forest side area in the original game. The one downside is that Titan can be slow and his area of attack is not that large besides his finishing move.

7

Leviathan

Powerful Non-Elemental Damage

all-final-fantasy-7-rebirth-summons-leviathan

  • MP Bonus +4
  • Magic Attack Bonus +4
  • Magic Defence Bonus +2
  • Magic Bonus +2
  • Spirit Bonus +2
  • Location: Have save data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake on your console.

Since Rebirth doesn’t have a set water elemental damage, Leviathan deals magic damage that is non-elemental. While he won’t be able to hit any weaknesses, he also won’t have to worry about immunities and resistances, and overall is a good option in just about any match-up.

Leviathan is another summon that won’t right into the thick of the fighting, but the damage output makes it a good source of additional damage, especially on a staggered target. Between its abilities and Ultimate, it’s great for dealing with small groups, while also having a good enough damage output to be helpful against bosses.

6

Ramuh

Throw Lightning Bolts Like Zeus

all-final-fantasy-7-rebirth-summons-ramuh

  • HP Bonus +40
  • MP Bonus +2
  • Attack Bonus +4
  • Magic Attack Bonus +4
  • Strength Bonus +2
  • Magic Bonus +2
  • Location: Have saved data on your console from Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intermission.

Ramuh deals huge amounts of damage when casting from the back line in combat. While his abilities Voltaic Lance and Circuitous Bolt are great for damaging multiple enemies, their single-target damage is great enough to make this an incredibly useful summon against a lot of bosses in the early to mid-game.

Voltaic Lance also only costs 1 ATB bar to use and should be used often in any fight to get incredible results from this summon. While it does require you to have completed save data from Intermissions, it’s almost worth the effort of completing again if needed to make sure you have this Materia early in the game.

5

Kujata

Three Elements In One, What Could Go Wrong?

Kujata in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • HP Bonus +231
  • MP Bonus +2
  • Attack Bonus +4
  • Strength Bonus +2
  • Location: Gongaga

The aforementioned Kujata has a more frightening appearance than the original with its multiple heads. It makes sense thematically since Kujata holds the power of Fire, Ice, and Lightning within its body to attack its foes with multiple elements. To reiterate, Players can acquire Kujata around the Gongaga region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which was changed significantly from the small side area of the original game.

Players will ultimately have an easier time in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by avoiding these common mistakes.

It’s also a lot easier to get Kujata in this game since it is technically on the main path in the Gongaga region. Kujata is probably not going to be a favorite among players but it does have excellent stat boosts, especially in the HP department. It is powerful, but it doesn’t have that one core element to elevate it above others. Instead, it kind of takes a jack-of-all-trades approach with its three elemental powers and comes in handy from time to time.

4

Alexander

A Slow But Steady Stream Of Damage

Alexander in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • HP Bonus +139
  • MP Bonus +2
  • Defense Bonus +2
  • Magic Defense Bonus +2
  • Vitality Bonus +2
  • Spirit Bonus +2
  • Location: Corel

Alexander is one of the strangest Summons in the series because it is always depicted as a huge mechanical castle. The biggest surprise of the series was in Final Fantasy 9, wherein the kingdom of Alexandria was Alexander itself. History aside, Alexander in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be found in the Corel region.

It uses non-elemental damage, which is great because it cannot be deflected by enemies that are strong against certain elements like fire. In the original game, it can be found in the Icicle Inn area to the north, and it had Holy-based damage, which was a rare element. It’s a shame this was changed because undead enemies are weak to Holy and Alexander would definitely have come in handy in the remake’s version of Cosmo Canyon.

3

Odin

Instant Death For Most Challengers

Odin in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • MP Bonus +3
  • Attack Bonus +8
  • Strength Bonus +4
  • Location: Nibel

Odin will be the final regional Summon that players can find in the Nibel area. Like all other versions of Odin, he is a giant knight riding atop a horse into battle. It also deals non-elemental damage with its support attacks in battle. Odin’s true power is its departing strike, Zantetsuken, which has a high chance of slicing enemies in half to instantly kill them.

The attack does not work on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s many bosses, and it cannot kill some of the higher-powered mini-bosses from kill quests either, but Odin is still effective in boss fights because those swords are no joke. Speaking of boss fights, it is one of the hardest Summons to acquire during the VR sequences because Odin can use Zantetsuken on the party. The struggle is worth it though, along with all the other VR battles, to get Summons in the game.

2

Bahamut Arisen

The King of Dragons’ Cousin Is In Town

Bahamut Arisen in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • MP Bonus +3
  • Attack Bonus +4
  • Magic Attack Bonus +4
  • Strength Bonus +2
  • Magic +2
  • Location: Cosmo Canyon

Bahamut Arisen was renamed in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as it was called Neo Bahamut in the original game. Both versions are red renditions of the King of Dragons, Bahamut, and Bahamut Arisen is a powerhouse. It can be found in the Cosmo Canyon region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is one of the trickiest to navigate due to the high-walled cliffs.

Bahamut Arisen deals non-elemental damage, so it cannot exploit any weaknesses to Stagger enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, the damage it can do with its various claw and beam attacks makes the non-elemental damage not a problem. Someone in the main party should have this destructive dragon in the party at all times.

1

Phoenix

The Healing Power Alone Makes This An Easy Win

Phoenix in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • MP Bonus +3
  • Magic Attack Bonus +8
  • Magic Bonus +4
  • Location: Junon

Phoenix is one of the best Summons in the game and can be acquired relatively fast. It’s housed in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Junon region, which is where a lot of big story beats happen in Chapter 4. Phoenix has the power of fire, just like Ifrit, but there’s a bonus too.

Phoenix’s flames will revive fallen party members on the battlefield once its time runs up and its secondary abilities even have healing properties. Not every enemy is weak to fire damage in the game, but Phoenix’s healing powers make it a standout early on.
