The Pokemon series has a lot more Poke Balls than you might think. Of course, not every game will have it in every game. Some games only appear as spin-offs. While Regular, Great, and Ultra Balls are common, others are more specialized and only appear in certain games.

Poke Balls aren't just tools. But they also have interesting designs. Every fan has their own favorite type of ball. And there are many balls to choose from, from common to rare.

We've included every Poke Ball type from the Scarlet and Violet eras, as well as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, not including any other subdivisions.

Master Ball is another classic game. You usually get one in each game. Only give one because it's so powerful. This is usually what you should do when catching a Legendary Pokémon.

  • Special purpose: Catch Pokemon without any glitches.

Love Balls is one of the best Poke Balls in terms of design. It is probably the cutest Poke Ball with its pink color and heart shape. In the game's launch, it is made of Pink Apricorns.

  • Games that first appeared in: Pokemon Gold and Silver
  • Special purpose: To have an 8x catch rate modifier against Pokemon of the opposite gender of the Pokemon you have (although in Gold and Silver this didn't happen due to a glitch).

This ball is used as a backup for larger Pokémon that tend to be Rock, Steel, and/or Ground types due to their heavier weight. It is based on the Black Apricorns in the original game.

  • Games that first appeared in: Pokemon Gold and Silver
  • Special purpose: The modifier ranges from -20 to 40x depending on the weight of the Pokemon trying to catch – the heavier the bigger the modifier.

Fastball

Fast Ball is about to catch the target in Pokemon.

Not to be confused with the similarly named Quick Ball, Fast Ball has a very different specialization. It is based on White Apricorns in the original game.

  • Special purpose: There is an increased catch rate depending on the species of Pokémon. It's best with fast-running species.
