Tammy Hembrow has announced her engagement to reality TV star Matt Zukowski.
The fitness influencer went public with the former Love Island Australia contestant in September, ending weeks of speculation from her millions of social media followers that the pair were dating.
Now, the couple have taken their relationship to the next level – with Hembrow sharing the news via an emotional video of the moment to her Instagram.
“Never in my life have I felt so safe, so loved, so understood, so cared for,” she captioned the footage.
“What a plot twist you were.”
Zukowski popped the question on a beach – seemingly on their recent getaway to the Maldives – with the pair surrounded by candles inside a heart built into the sand.
While the Gold Coast mother-of-three is yet to comment publicly on their relationship, Zukowski told 9Entertainment in November that he’d “never been happier”.
“Everything’s looking good in my life, I’m keeping busy, keeping my mind busy so I’m very happy at the moment,” the 28-year-old said.
“I am very loved up. Yes, I’m very in love.”
In an earlier interview with the Back To Reality podcast, asked whether he’d found his “forever love” in Hembrow, Zukowski admitted: “I’d like to think I have.”
“Without going into too much detail, you know when you find someone and you click with them and it’s just easy,” he said.
“It’s just easy and there’s that different feeling inside when you’re around each other. They match my goofy energy and who I am.”
It hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing for the couple however, with Hembrow in particular inundated with “judgmental” comments after the two went public, flooding her posts with sexist criticism.
Her engagement announcement is seemingly no different. Among the congratulatory messages, Hembrow’s followers were quick to write: “Wait didn’t this happen last year too with someone else.”
“Jesus Christ girl, be alone for once,” another said.
Hembrow confirmed her split from ex-fiance Matt Poole in December last year, just months after they welcomed daughter Posy.
“That’s just a part of my life I’m choosing not to share anymore,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, after fans plagued her social media accounts with questions over the nature of their relationship.
“And out of respect for everyone and for my kids I just don’t feel I need to give an explanation.”
The 29-year-old has two other children – son, Wolf, and another daughter, Saskia – with ex-partner Reece Hawkins. The two made headlines in 2018 when they called off their engagement after four years of dating.
