Samsung is looking to make a move and make some profits from the mobile gaming industry as they gear up to release their game streaming service via the Samsung Game Launcher on Galaxy phones at the developer conference which will take place on October 5th, 2023. With this move, targeted at mobile gaming, Samsung will enter and will aim to bank profits through their cloud gaming services as reported by Korean Economic Daily.
Samsung aims to bank profits through advertisements and paid games via their new game streaming service
Samsung’s new business move more or less appears to be a strategic one, the company with its new game streaming services will aim to target the mobile gaming community as it will allow the players to have access to new games on their devices which would allow them to recover some of the game-install-ad revenue which the company has been struggling to bank on. The other reason might be to augment their mobile device sales revenue with the ad revenue generated from their new cloud gaming services.
Samsung’s Jong Hyuk Woo quoted on the matter ” 90% of the people who have expressed interest in a game publisher’s content, via an ad, don’t actually ever get into the game. We believe that cloud streaming can do something for mobile game publishers by completely collapsing that user acquisition funnel, getting rid of the download and installing and the visit to the App Store. It can dramatically reduce that, that funnel and the inefficiencies within that model“
The other major reason could also be the low revenue figure from the sales of mobile devices as the company has been having some troubles with the revenue figures, ad revenue from game streaming services would play nicely to their needs. The gaming service has not been released as of now and more information will be known once it gets released at the developer conference on October 5th, 2023.
