RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts woman in labour trapped by floodwaters to Toowoomba

An expecting mother has been flown to hospital after she was trapped in flood water while in labour.

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew was called to the Lockyer Valley region west of Brisbane after reports a woman in labour became trapped in her home by rising floodwaters on Sunday.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were unable to reach the woman safely by road due to flooding in the Lockyer Valley Region.

Thankfully, the woman’s neighbour, who is a veterinarian, was able to provide initial care until the helicopter could land at the property at 11am on Sunday.

She was then stabilised by the crew for her flight to Toowoomba.

However, due to weather conditions, the woman was flown to the Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue base, where she was met by paramedics who then took her to Toowoomba Hospital.
