Oleksandr Khyzhniak, Ukraine’s gold medal-winning boxer, returns home and lifts spirits amid war

KYIV: Ukrainian boxing gold medallist Oleksandr Kiznyak gave a military salute to the crowd gathered to celebrate his return to his war-torn country after the Paris Olympics. Stepping off the Olympic Express special train at Kyiv's central station, Kiznyak, 29, greeted fans, friends and family. The athlete from Poltava is also a soldier of the Ukrainian Border Guard Forces. He is the first gold medalist at the 2024 Olympics to bring the trophy to his homeland.
