Editors' Picks Game of the Year 2024

I'm a zeitgeist, and my GOTY list from last year was full of amazing games from the genre, although 2024 isn't as many as I'd hoped. But there are still some that cause familiar itching.

That's not to say I don't enjoy other types of games. This year, my list has become more diverse. And I really enjoyed playing everything in it. There's a good chance you'll recognize some of these names here. But if you don't remember Consider this your signal to give it a try.

And because everyone on TheGamer's editorial team seems to think their list is the best, Feel free to check out theirs – just make sure you finish mine first. Priority, right?

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Space Marine 2: The waves of Tyranids are stopped by a single Primaris Space Marine.

Playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is pure chaotic fun. There's nothing like facing hordes of enemies as a clad, armored warrior with a chainsaw and a gun, shouting “For the Emperor!”

It's an over-the-top action that never ceases to be satisfying.

Palm World

Definitely not my usual type of game, but Palworld is one of the most talked about games of the year. So I had to give it a try.

As someone who never cared about Pokemon – yes, I said I grew up on Disney, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy – Palworld is refreshing, chaotic, funny, hilarious, and extremely fun to play.

Final Fantasy 7 Reborn

Zack carries Cloud in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

I'm not thrilled that the remake of the original Final Fantasy 7 was split into three parts. But I still can't deny how much I like it.

It was so good that I kept playing and replaying it. I mean, who can get enough of Cloud and Sephiroth? not me!

Black Legend: Wukong

I'm very excited about Black Myth: Wukong, and although it disappointed in some areas, But I won't pretend I didn't sink 100 hours into it.

I have a serious soft spot for spiritual games. And playing a stick-wielding monkey is undeniably fun. It may not be perfect. But it still gave me some good boss fights. Lots to remember

6

Stellar Sword

Stellar Blade - Eve in her Tachy form is about to attack Elder Naytiba.

I didn't know what to expect when I first got my hands on the Stellar Blade, but it just clicked. And that is the most important thing. The combat is great, flashy, fast-paced, diverse, and thank goodness. It's not an overly long game filled with pointless missions and unnecessary fluff.

It's short, focused, and satisfying. Stellar Blade delivers exactly what is needed. And I enjoyed every moment playing Eve.

I will say this: Possible Overwatch Killer is better in many ways, and it's hard not to love it.

(Yes, I still play Overwatch.)

Dragon's Belief 2

The Sphinx is just that.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

I've never played a game quite like Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden, where you control two characters whose gameplay and story fit so perfectly together. Red and Anthea's chemistry is at the heart of the experience. And their bond felt so real that it was almost like I was living their story alongside them.

Being able to shape the narrative through every small decision makes the voice acting more effective and the excellent voice acting adds a level of realism that makes their journey so authentic. more personal I may or may not cry at the end of their touching love story.

2

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6

Round zombies – that's what I wanted from Activision, and Black Ops 6 finally brings it back.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Earth Tree

Pick 1 game-Mohamed El Vardighi 2024 #1 Pick

Don't change a pitiful thing into a god.”

I don't care what anyone says about DLC not deserving of a Game of the Year nomination – FromSoftware showed the world what real DLC should be like. Loaded with new content, Shadow of the Erdtree feels less like an expansion. And as a continuation of Elden Ring's legacy, to be honest, it could stand on its own as a full game. Just look at its large and diverse map. Then you'll see what I mean. There are also new bosses, weapons, and characters, and it's nothing special.

FromSoftware has always provided top-notch DLC, but with Shadow of the Erdtree it even surpasses itself. I wouldn't be surprised if it took home the 2024 Game of the Year award, and it's on my list. It has won that award – and deservedly so.
