Bedrock Edition Gets New Update for October 2024

Key Takeaways

  • Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s latest Preview update adds new features to The Pale Garden.
  • New updates bring Resin, Eyeblossom, bug fixes, and more to enhance the spooky Minecraft experience.

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s latest update has added new content to The Pale Garden, the recently announced biome currently available to Minecraft Preview players. A mysterious area of ghostly, shadowed forests lurking under an ashen sky, The Pale Garden promises a uniquely haunting Minecraft experience.

As Halloween fast approaches, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition players have recently enjoyed a wealth of creepy new content in the run-up to the spooky season. After being mistakenly leaked ahead of the Minecraft LIVE 2024 event, the “Bundles of Bravery” update was released on October 22, bringing new items and a high-stakes hardcore survival mode to Bedrock Edition and Java Edition realms. Earlier in October, Mojang Studios also unveiled Minecraft’s major upcoming content drop, allowing players to preview The Pale Garden, a haunting new overworld biome protected by a petrifying new enemy, The Creaking.

Minecraft Player Makes Incredibly Lucky Discovery While Mining

A Minecraft player makes an incredible discovery while mining, and surprises the Mojang sandbox community by sharing their find.

With its eerie, gothic color palette of ghostly trees and faded skies, The Pale Garden offers a unique Minecraft experience. While not one of Minecraft’s strongest monsters outright, the ent-like Creaking offers experienced fans a welcome new challenge. Invincible until players find and destroy its Creaking Heart, a “living block” hidden among the woodlands, the Creaking remains stationary while in the player’s field of view, ready to pounce once their back is turned. Mojang has just expanded this new biome with Minecraft Preview 1.21.50.25, which brings two major additional features in the form of Resin and the new flower Eyeblossom.

By day, the Eyeblossom’s bud will remain closed, but during the night these unearthly flowers open their glowing orange eyes, poisoning any bees or players unfortunate enough to ingest them. Resin is a new block dropped after the destruction of a Creaking Heart, which can be crafted into a Block of Resin and used to trim armor. It can also be hardened in a furnace to craft Resin Bricks, used to create Resin Stairs, Walls, Slabs, and Brick Blocks required to construct bright player-made structures that starkly stand out against The Pale Garden’s sea of grays. The Creaking mobs have also been made more formidable, as the aggravated monsters will now deal more attack damage and move with increased speed.

The new update also promises to fix many minor bugs and bring many textures in line with their Java Edition counterparts. Hopefully, this will allow for the smoothest, spookiest experience possible as players explore all the secrets of the haunting Pale Garden this Halloween. Minecraft Preview players can Beta test the new content now, although Mojang has not yet revealed when fans can expect to see The Pale Garden in the base game.

Entity Components

  • Removed the ‘minecraft:can_attack_ghast’ component and replaced it with a new component ‘minecraft:cannot_be_attacked’. When added to an entity it prevents other entities from attacking it unless they fulfill an exception filter, in vanilla it is added to Ghasts, creators can add their entities to the exception filter allowing them to then attack Ghasts.

Entity Event Responses

  • The “execute_event_on_home_block” entity event response is now marked as [Beta] and requires “use_beta_features” to be specified in the root JSON object
    • The current implementation doesn’t fully align with our internal standards, so it will remain unavailable for Creator content until we can develop a more robust technical solution
    • This approach allows us to iterate on the feature without risking backward compatibility
  • Added the “emit_particle” entity event response, allowing particles to be emitted at the center of the entity’s bounding box
    • The “particle” field allows to specify the type of particle to emit

    • Aim Assist will highlight the selected target. The highlighting textures are customizable through textures under “textures\ui” folder using a resource pack

API

  • Added shutdown event to beforeEvents within the system class. This is fired after all players have left and the world is about to shutdown/close.
