Balance Changes, Text Changes, and more

Clash MiniSupercell’s strategy board game set in the Clash Universe is once again introducing some interesting balance changes this month. Alongside the balance changes, we do see some mechanics and text fixes, which we will discuss in this Clash Mini October 2023 Update article.

Barbarian King

He got a recent buff in September making him overpowered, so a little adjustment.

  • Super changed from 2x ATK DMG to +2 ATK DMG.


  • Removed Backstab as a mechanic.
  • Base ATK DMG: 3 → 2.
  • Base HP: 16 → 13.
  • Ability 1 changed to Anti Heal (reducing the heal blocking from -100% to -66%).
  • Ability 2 changed from Backstab to +1 damage to Injured enemies.
    • Upgrade 1-3: +1 DMG each for +4 DMG at max.

Shield Maiden

This is a simplified version of Shield Maiden’s kit that removes Effective Heal as a mechanic.

  • Ability 1: Taunt effect now hits Nearby enemies, shield reflects 50% of damage (down from 100%).
  • Ability 2: Applies Burning debuff (1 damage per second) to a 3×4 area for 4 seconds.
    • Upgrade 1-3: +2s Duration each level.
  • Ability 3: Changed to KO! Before defeat, gain 20 Shield and max Energy.
    • Upgrades 1-3: +10 Shield per level.

Skeleton King

  • Super: Spawns 2 Skeleton Guards (15 HP, 1 ATK DMG).
  • Super’s push time and Stun time at the base level are both set to 0.5s.
  • Stun removed from the description as the enemy Mini will not be Stunned longer than the push time.
  • Upgrade 2 still adds +1s to the Stun.

Wave Master

Switched to a Rage-style effect.

  • Slow: -30% → -35%.
  • 2nd Ability: Base Slow duration increased from 2s to 3s.
  • 2nd Ability: Slow duration upgrade increased from 1s to 2s.
  • 3rd Ability:
    • Upgrade 1 grants ally 5 Shield.
    • Upgrade 2 grants ally 10 Shield.
    • Upgrade 3 grants ally +35% ATK and RUN SPD for 7s.

  • ATK SPD per Star: 0.15 → 0.1.
  • Upgrade 2: 2x ATK DMG changed to 2x ATK SPD (still 5s).
  • Upgrade 3: changed to +0.3 ATK SPD (old max: 1.05, new max 1.2).


A bit of a buff to the Bandit.

  • Base ATK SPD: 0.8 → 0.85.
  • Upgrade X: Changed Slow (3s) to Stun (1s).


  • Base HP: 15 → 11.
  • HP per star: 8 →  11.


  • Base HP: 18 → 20.
  • Upgrade 3: Changed +60% Hit Speed to 6 Shield per enemy hit.

Ice Wizard

  • Slow increased to 35% at the base level.
  • Range: 4 tiles → 3 tiles.
  • Upgrade 1 changed: Enemies have -1 ATK DMG while Slowed.


  • Taunts faster at the start of battle.
  • Upgrade 3: Taunt duration bonus increased from +2s to +4s (6s total).


  • HP per Star: 6 → 4.
  • Upgrade 1 changed to “BOAST! Gain 2x ATK & RUN SPD (4s)”.


  • Upgrade 2 changed to “+2 DMG to Healthy enemies” (Healthy = greater than 50% HP).


  • Starting Energy: 1 → 0.
  • Base Super loses Stun.
  • Base Super loads/fires faster (1.2s -> 0.5s).
  • Upgrade 1 increased Stun bonus from 1.5s to 2s.
  • Upgrade 3 changed from -1 Energy to CLASH: Gain 4 Energy over 2s.


  • Upgrade 3: Bonus ATK Damage reduced from 4 to 3.

Royal Ghost

  • CLASH grants Invisible for 6s (up from 2.5s).
  • CLASH only affects Royal Ghost, not adjacent allies.
  • Base HP: 12 → 16.
  • HP per Star: 8 → 9.

Additional Changes

Texts and Bugfixes

There have been some Texts and Bugfixes updated as given below.

  • Bandit gets a Switch Super name to Devious Dash.
  • Knight gets a Switch Upgrade text to 6 more tiles, not 3. Along with this, his Taunt duration now increases with 3rd upgrade.
  • Grand Warden gets a Text changed to Surrounding not Adjacent.
  • Shield Maiden gets a Super’s taunt clarified to Nearby enemies.
  • Fisherman’s Hook indicator should be on the right tile now.
  • Valkyrie/Dart Goblin now deals 4x damage to Ice Wizard Shield.
  • Bowler and Giant Skeleton incorrectly stated they Stunned for 2s each, it was always 1s. Texts have been updated, but it is not a nerf.

Attribute and Mechanic Changes


  • All healing debuffs (Countess, Valkyrie, Spear Goblin, Dagger Goblin, and Wizard) reduce healing by 66% and have been changed from “-X% Heal” to simply “deals Anti-Heal”

Healthy / Injured

  • RAMPAGE! (which happens when you go under 50% HP) is renamed to INJURY!
  • Bandit and Magic Archer’s Execute has been reworded to “+2 DMG to Injured enemies”
    • Countess gains +DMG to Injured enemies instead of Backstab.
    • This takes 2 separate keywords and makes them 1 easier to understand shared term
  • New term: Healthy enemies – deal bonus damage to enemies OVER 50% HP


  • Backstab is being removed as a mechanic, for several reasons given by the developers.
    • It is visually unclear which tiles are active for Backstab.
    • Backstab tiles change when the Minis retarget or reposition.
    • You do not have micro-control over your Minis.
  • Overall, Backstab works great in games where you control your positioning, but probably not the best for auto battles. In the interest of fewer mechanics and better clarity, both Countess and Miner are losing Backstab in favor of other mechanics.
